World Record Pools

The first pool dates back early on 2500BC and it was the Egyptians who first took a dip. Spas were big hits in the time of Cleopatra. Not only was it discovered for relaxation and leisure but it was actually considered therapeutic and healthy.

It’s now 2010 AD, and pools (whether indoor or outdoor) are still blockbusters when it comes to relaxing, enjoying and staying healthy.  And for some reason, vacation is never really complete without swimming in the pool.

Back in 2500BC, pools were inspired by the river- silent and still. Structures were made simple but now, pools have definitely come a long way. Not only did buildings get to have “architectural structures” but if you take a tour on some of the world’s amazing sites, you’ll witness such pool shapes and debt that could really blow your mind.

According to the Guinness book of records, the largest pool in the world is and it can be found in Algarrobo, Chile and it is the San Alfonso Del Mar Seawater pool. Measuring 3,323 ft long and it 20 acres for the area, this pool could you the infinity illusion. It was finished on December of 2006.

Now let’s talk about depth. You are probably afraid of the ocean because it is deep so in case that is your issue, I don’t think swimming in Nemo 33 (located near Brussels, Belgium) is such a good idea. How deep? Well it contains two big flat-bottomed areas with 16 and 33 ft in depth levels. And it doesn’t end there, because it also contains a huge round pit which is that goes deeper to 108 ft. it will absolutely give you the feeling that you are in the ocean only without sharks and strong current around. Unless you are Michael Phelps or a mermaid, do not dare swimming on this one. But if you are the type who drowns on shallow water, then challenge is an understatement with this. Just don’t do swim there to show-off.  There is a big possibility that no one could rescue you when you drown due to its depth. But in case that is your plan, do not forget to wear your complete scuba gear.

We only have only life to witness all these breathtaking things. Make life worth it and experience the best things. It is a great plan to see these record breaking pools.

Stick around for more recording breaking pool facts.
